Hi all. I am simulating a wind tower with natural ventilation in EnergyPlus. I want to add a pool under the wind tower and mix the natural ventilation in order to create evaporative passive cooling with this system. I am wonder if it is possible to simulate such a circumstance in EnergyPlus? I would really appreciate if anybody can help. Many Thanks

Traditional Middle Eastern windcatchers come to mind. To be clear, you have already modelled such a wind tower with EnergyPlus, e.g., AFN? CFD-coupled? And are now interested in improving the model by adding an evaporative cooling pond? Have you looked into ZoneCoolTower:Shower? Not an evaporative cooling pond, but a close cousin. You could try tweaking parameters (with/without EMS) to get a closer fit.

A modelling example of an evaporative cooling pond.

Thanks, Denis, for introducing this system. Actually I want have AFN in my system and ZoneCoolTower:Shower does not permit to Have such a system. I wonder if there is any way to have such system with Air Flow Network?

Right - the ZoneCoolTower:Shower is an all-in-one solution (Givoni model implemented by Kang & Strand). Not knowing the exact cooling pond scenario you're considering (e.g. still surface? fountains?), maybe simply adding a (tweaked) swimming pool would do the trick. It's an internal gain, so AFN compatible IMO. It has its contraints, but manageable. The Activity Factor seems key for calibration.
