I would like to model an air to water heat pump system connected to a buffer tankin EnergyPlus and evaluate the temperature changes in the tank. For this purpose, the exit temperature of water from air to water heat pumps are really important. When the heat pump enters to the defrost mode (it is a reverse cycle defrost) the heat pump basically works in cooling mode for a short period of time and therefore the water exit temperatures and thus the temperature in the buffer should decrease. However, the air to water heat pump model in EnergyPlus does not include defrosting. Is there a way to couple the available defrost model for air to air heat pumps to air to water heat pumps or to implement our own defrost control strategy for air to water heat pumps? Thanks in advance!
