Has anyone done a linear or polynomial regression on the ResStock buildings to predict energy usage?
I was wondering if it is possible to predict energy usage of a residential building in Denver, for example, with certain features such as size, age, heating fuel source, etc.
The NREL ResStock has thousands of buildings for a given location https://public.tableau.com/app/profil...
But I was wondering if it makes any sense to do this with a linear/ polynomial regression? Anyone know or have tips?
in the past I've use OLS and dummy variables to predict building characteristics based on age, size, use and location using CBECS data. could be a place to start. not sure if its still necessary but at the time i need to use a plug in to get around limitations within excel, i think this is the one i used.
