Hello everyone, i employed the hvactemplate: idealloadairsystem to simulate the cooling loads and heating loads in energyplus 9.5, and used "Zone Ideal Loads Zone Total Cooling Rate" and ""Zone Ideal Loads Zone Total Heating Rate" to export the loads at the "detailed" frequency. My confusion is why the building have heating loads and cooling loads at the same time. image description

@DanW the output variable columns could be showing heating loads in some zones and cooling loads in other zones. Can you add a screenshot example from an output CSV or ESO file of a situation where the building has both at the same time?

Hello,Dr. Boranian, this is a screenshot ftom the simulation results. The Space 2-1 and 3-1 have heating loads and cooling loads at the same time, as shown in red rectangle.

Hi, that usually happens when your schedules are overlapping a bit. To make sure this doesn't happen tweak your schedules so that there is no heating and cooling scheduled at the same moment for a given thermal zone.

I hope this helps a bit! I use OpenStudio instead of E+, but this should still apply to your case...
