Design Builder HVAC - how to model an A2A heat pump with direct expansion and A2W coupled to a radiant floor

asked 2021-11-10 04:29:06 -0500

Hi everyone, I need to model in Design Builder an A2A heat pump with direct expansion and A2W coupled to a radiant floor. I think that I have to model them separately, but I've had difficulty implementing direct expansion on the airside. Someone can help me?

I haven't come across an A2W heat pump before. I had to go to the help files.

https://designbuilder.co.uk/helpv6.0/...

This describes the process of A2W, though I couldn't create it manually, I had to use the HVAC template "ASHP Air-to-water Heat Pump, Water Convector". Delete the water convector and replace it with the infloor radiant system.

The A2A system should be straight forward from the Unitary Air-to-Air Heat Pump Loop from Add Loop. DX is listed as an the only option in the cooling coil and first heating coil.

I had to do it as two systems.

Did you need them to be integrated?

I don't need it integrated, but in the ASHP template I've got a problem: I want to change the water tank present in the template with a simple heat exchanger refrigerant/water, because in the real system I don't have a tank, but only an HX. The software does not allow me to replace it, do you have any advice on how to do it?
