I have requested the TMY3 data and saved the data to the weather file in BEopt once I reload the program and try and select the data set I still get an error saying that the data is in the wrong format.

Can you attach the weather file or provide screenshots? You can use Google Drive or Dropbox to share files, for example.

I have a similar question. BEopt isn't letting me download TMY3 files through its software. I assume I have to use NSRDB and place it in the weather folder? What data points do I have to select and how do I convert, or is there a resource you can point to that can show me this? Thanks!

BEopt uses EPW (EnergyPlus Weather) files, which you can download from https://energyplus.net/weather

I would caution against using temperature data from NSRDB for building simulations. The temperature data comes from MERRA reanalysis of satellite data, which can be off by 5 deg F on average vs. ground-station-measured temperature data.
