How to use EMS to deal with AFN for natural ventilation as E+ assumes that the window is closed for solar gain??

I am modeling natural ventilation in EnergyPlus and analyzing the effect on thermal comfort, and I came up with a problem in Airflow Network. At the Input Output Reference, it says: "It is assumed that the airflow through a window opening is unaffected by the presence of a shading device such as a shade or blind on the window. Also, the calculation of conductive heat transfer and solar gain through a window or door assumes that the window or door is closed." (p. 1096, Input Output Reference v 9.4)
I should use EMS to model an external window to really consider the window opening, but If I change the surface to Material: NoMass, for example, I get a severe error as EnergyPlus does not allow opaque material in the window.
Any advice here? I appreciate it a lot if you share your experience with this subject.
