Hi all,

New e+ user here. I am running some .idf files (DOE commercial reference buildings) in EnergyPlus and need to retrieve some variables that are not in the standard reports. More specifically, I am looking for the reheat heating load for VAV/CAV boxes.

I can see that the reheating coils are listed in the HVAC EQUIPMENT section of the idf file, but I don't see any reheat information in the rdd/mdd (report/meter data dictionary) files. Does anyone know how I can include these specific variables in the report?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You can generate output for your reheat coil similar to any heating coil, for example: Heating Coil Electric Energy , Heating Coil Heating Rate. Just use the name of your reheat coil as the key for output. Hope this helps !

Yes, it did help! Do you know if there is any way to separate the energy from reheat and heat? I summed up the "Heating Coil Heating Energy" for all reheat coils and it's the same as the total facility heating (which in my understanding means that the reheat coils are also used for heating somehow). Thanks!

To have the energy consumed in reheat you simply add the energy consumed by all the reheat coils. Reheat does not mean that you are in a cold winter day. Its related to your minimum outdoor air flow rate and your current loads for each individual zone. In your case, I believe you only have reheating.

That was very helpful, thank you. Let me know if you have more studies involving CRB reheat.
