Columns in building's geometry

Hi! I am creating a geometry of building in DesignBuilder and there is a significant amount of concrete columns in a parking garage area and in some occupied spaces. I assume that thermal masses of those columns shall not be excluded for the purpose of accurate modelling. Which methodologies (specific to DesignBuilder or not) do people use to acount for effects (on energy consumption) of such constructions in a modeled building ?

P.S. The model is for LEED.

To take into account their thermal capacity (i.e. when they are into a thermal zone, set back a few meters from the façade) you may want to use Internal Mass objects
To take into account their shading effect (i.e. they are outside your building) you may want to use shading surfaces, a Standard Component Block in DesignBuilder
