Error Loading OpenStudio SketchUp Plug-in

I started recently using SketchUp, I installed SketchUp Pro 2021 and want to use the extension feature to link the OpenStudio Application 1.1.0, using the extension manager I've added the latest SketchUp Plugin 1.1.0 but it seems like did not work every time I am starting up the SketchUp the following message generated:

Error loading OpenStudio SketchUp Plug-in: 126: The specified module could not be found. - C:/openstudioapplication-1.1.0/Ruby/openstudio_modeleditor.so

I tried to remove and re-install both programs (SketchUp and OpenStudio) but without any improvement.

Can you please help me to troubleshoot it?

I think that the current available versions of OpenStudio are compatible with SketchUp 2019 and 2020, I removed SketchUp 2021 and installed SketchUp 2020 then I was able to add the OpenStudio Application 1.1.0.

A release candidate OpenStudio Application v1.2.0-RC1 is available at the link below. This RC includes OpenStudio SDK 3.2.0. It updates to EnergyPlus v9.5.0, Ruby 2.7.2, and is compatible with SketchUp 2021.

When I try to install the exe file on my Windows computer, I get the following error even if I open the file as an administrator and even though the file permissions look good: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Do you have any ideas of what the problem might be?

@Bo White, are you trying to install the OpenStudio Application v1.2.0-RC1? My guess is that your user does not have write access to C:\ needed to create the default installation directory of C:\openstudioapplication-1.2.0-alpha. Can you try installing to a different directory?

I have write access to C. In any case, the executable file will not open so I cannot choose the installation directory. I also downloaded the zip file, changed the folder name and location to make the path shorter (just in case), but when I try to open the application, I get the same error.

I'm having the same problem.

I've removed and reinstalled sketchup 2020 and Openstudio application 1.3.0. Run a repair on the Sketchup install, and deleted all the User/appdata directories.

I'm running Win 10 64 bit.

Using file manager>copy path I get: "C:\openstudioapplication-1.3.0\Ruby\openstudio_modeleditor.so"

So the file is there.

The file manager path uses back slashes and the error message foward slashes. Could this be the problem? I've tried editing the path to the OpenStudio root directory in the sketchup dialog that pops up on startup to use a backslash but this doesnt have any effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update I removed OpenStudio application 1.3.0 and installed 1.1.0 and everything is working fine now.

So in myinstance at lease Sketchup pro 2020 and OS application 1.3.0 are not working together but 2020 aand 1.1.0 are working.

I have the same problem than Bo, on a clean laptop with no previous install of EnergyPlus, OpenStudio nor Ruby. This is Windows Pro 10 21H1, 64-bit. I have admin privileges, and tried to run the exe as admin, as well as tried to execute the openstudio app from the zip file as admin. The error window is always the same, shown below. It is not clear which path the package is trying to access. I also tried first installing Energyplus 9.5.0 and Ruby 2.7.2 with devkit. Those installations go through just fine. Then, same error. Please advise. Thank you
