How do fix unexplained failed simulation error without error log?
I keep getting a returning error in my model that causes the simulation to fail immediately without generating any sort of useful report to explain the error. The only reports I can find indicate I have no input errors, and I can't find a reason why this failed simulation error pops up and disappears randomly. Sometimes I can run the model and it fail, then I save and run again and it works fine, then next time i try to run it it fails. It seems to indicate I'm missing a measure.rb file in the openstudio directory, but I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest available version and keep getting the same issue. some models I have still run no problem, and often after I run one without an issue, I can go back and run a failed simulation and it will work no problem. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this so I can actually use my software and not randomly guess when the model will work or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
it wouldn't let me post the run log describing my missing file, but I'd be happy to provide a text file or the model if that will help find a solution. Thanks!
There are a lot of different behaviors described above so hard to pinpoint something specific, but if you are using the OpenStudio application, I might suggest making a renamed copy of your OSM file and then open that with the application. It will result in a fresh OSW file. You will have to re-assign weather file and measures. It would also be nice to know what operating system and version of OpenStudio you are using.
Hey David, Thanks so much for getting back to me. I know it's a lot to unpack and I apologize for not being able to be a bit more detailed in my problem as I'm having a tough time understanding what the problem is and I am fairly new to this. I am using openstudio v3.1.0 on windows 7 professional OS at 64 bit. My problem seems to be with the background script in the openstudio directory itself. I have tried renaming and saving a new osm file multiple times, but this is a very inconsistent solution and sometimes produces a full simulation with good results, but then will fail again when rerun.
is there a way for me to post the file or the run log so that you can take a look?
