Can't open openstudio.exe or OpenStudioApp.exe - Application Error

asked 2021-01-18 08:04:30 -0600

I just installed OpenStudioApplication 1.1.0 on a new computer with Windows 10 (up to date), and get this Windows error anytime I try to open openstudio.exe or OpenStudioApp.exe:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application

I tried with the 1.1.1 alpha2 and it's the same... any idea?

Thanks for reporting @Adrien, @Julien Marrec has fixed this for future installers with:

I installed openstudio 3.1.0 and copied the DLLs from C:\openstudio-3.1.0\bin to C:\openstudioapplication-1.1.0\bin. It now works. Does it mean that some required dependencies are not shipped with the application installer?

Perhaps something failed during the installation process. I don't think the installer itself is faulty.

I think we might be shipping a bad version of CONCRT140.dll. If you look at that dll it is from a much older version of Visual Studio than the rest of our runtimes and is i386 (32 bit)

concrt140.dll is the only dll that needs to be copied. I took the one from openstudio-3.1.0/bin and copied it into openstudioapplication-1.1.0/bin and everything works now. (This is for Win10; it worked on Win7 as is)
