How to simulate giving the weather condition heavy raining.

asked 2020-10-28 03:36:35 -0500

I have provided the measured values and modified the weather file for energyplus simulation. results are not matching with experimental. Apart from weather file update how can I define heavy rain in .idf editor.

Thanks Amith MG

Thanks for your reply Alessandro Gober. I have measured data from model room experiment obtained during heavy rainy days for the room inside air temperature and outside weather data. I have used the measured data for generating weather file and simulate, but the results for room air temperature are not matching with the experimental one. Kindly advise.

This is a calibration model issue. You have it check all variable you re not totally confident (i.e. material constructions, ventilaztion -if natural- internal gains ...). "Heavy rain" should already be in the EPW file you created through DB, RH, solar radiation data, I guess (main EPW input data). Whitout these data you cannot say to have a weather data for calibration. Moreover rain indicator is used un EPlus only to modify external convection coefficient (from dry conditions to wet oconditions), so it has not a relevant impact compared to many other parameters involved in calibration
