Hello. I got few simple questions I am using eQuest 3.65

  1. what is the different between eQuest and eQUEST Refrigeration?
  2. can I change to metric system?
  3. what is the Canadian version?
  4. If I create a model in one computer and want to send it to another use... Is the INP file is enough? is it include everything?
  5. What do you think is the best tutorial to start with?

Thank you for every answer possible

  1. The refrigeration version of eQUEST is used to model and simulate commercial refrigeration equipment, it has limited whole-building energy analysis capabilities.
  2. You cannot change to the metric system in eQUEST, I believe that you can do so in CAN-QUEST.
  3. The Canadian version is called CAN-QUEST, for more information see here.
  4. INP is the DOE-2 input file format, DOE-2 being the simulation software that eQUEST uses. You can import INP files in eQUEST. If you want to open an eQUEST project on another computer, you need at least both the INP and PD2 file.
  5. I do not have any special recommendations. I feel like it all depends on what you are trying to do and your current knowledge of building energy simulation, building science, and HVAC equipment.

on #4. It is possible to import just an inp file and create a model. eQuest will prompt for some additional info (weather file and eQuest Lib.dat file) AND you cannot go back to wizard mode. But is possible to get a model just from an inp.
