Surface normal/azimuth in E+/OpenStudio

I am building up my models from floorspace json and gbxml imports and I want to ensure that my surface normals are facing the right direction with the correct azimuth.

Firstly does this matter for ground adjacent floors and other interior surfaces since the Outside boundary condition object is ground and other surfaces respectively?

As I understand it, it only matters for SunExposed and WindowExposed surfaces in terms of the E+ calculations is this correct?

Lastly how can I get to the cardinal direction in OpenStudio like in the eplusbl.htm table seen below? I'd like to write an automated test to ensure the correct cardinal direction.
