ACE tool DesignBuilder

asked 2020-08-18 19:52:33 -0500

I'm currently working on a CFD analysis using DesignBuilder. I've already done the CFD simulation fully converged and done the LMA tool calculations. The next step I wish to work with is the Air Change Effectiveness of the zone. I opened the ACE tool found in DesignBuilder's CFD module, it asked me to define de coordinates of the "breathable regions". I copied the values/coordinates that appeared within my model. Unfortunately the program gave me the following warning message "Invalid ACE region geometry Check that length, width and height are all positive and that the co-ordinates provided represent a block" . I've tried by arranging the values in different orders, I algo added the wall widths of the model to these values but it keeps giving me the same warning message. Has anyone been able to fix this issue? Thank you in advance.

I used the ACE tool only last week so can confirm it is working as intended in the current release available from the DesignBuilder website. With the current ACE mechanism it is much easier if your domain starts at the origin (0,0,0 at X,Y,Z) if possible, which makes defining the breathing zone easier for complex geometries. FYI, we will be introducing a new ACE mechanism to make this process much easier later this year, but in the meantime if you are still struggling with it I would suggest you raise a support ticket so our Support Engineers can provide help specific to your model.

Thank you for your reply Dave. After reading your comment I went to triple check the coordinates for the breathing zones and finally worked. My building had a different origin from (0,0,0) and was typing an invalid value withing the ACE tool which cause this warning message. And thanks for the heads up! Will be checking the DB upgrades for this new mechanism.
