Hello to all, I am new at this program and I wanted to ask following: 1. Is Openstudio a run alone program or must it be combined with energy plus in order to get results? 2. Is there a connection between Openstudio and Energyplus?

Thank you Konstantina

OpenStudio is an interface for EnergyPlus. This means that the OpenStudio model is translated into an EnergyPlus model before using EnergyPlus to run the simulation. You can read more details in this post. This means that OpenStudio is NOT a run alone program -- it must be combined with EnergyPlus because EnergyPlus actually performs the calculations.

The OpenStudio Application is the graphical user interface (GUI) that allows you to create and edit the OpenStudio model in a visual process. This is maintained by the OpenStudio Coalition. There is also the OpenStudio Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows you to use scripting to automatically change the OpenStudio or EnergyPlus model. This is maintained by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Note that OpenStudio installs EnergyPlus for you, so even though it's technically not a run alone program, you can think of it that way because all you need to do is download, install, and use OpenStudio and it handles EnergyPlus for you.
