I'm interested in developing a LCCA with the ThermaRay radiant heating product in either Trane Trace or IES. Does anyone have experience with modeling these below grade radiant panels? Would radiant heating combined with thermal heating storage approximate the system accurately?

Aniros, I saw your questions here yesterday and wanted to let you know that I'm investigating this ThermaRay product that you are interested in modeling to see if it is possible in TRACE 3D Plus. I'll get back to you in a bit.

Please do reach out to our support team with your future questions at CDSHelp@trane.com or call 608-787-3926.

Aniros, in speaking with one of our developers we have concluded that you can model these systems in TRACE 3D Plus as electric radiant heating floor slabs. The EnergyPlus calculation engine algorithm should handle the heat balance correctly between the space and the ground. You can schedule the system operation to be on during your preferential electrical rate time frames and then shut off at the higher rate time frame. Please contact our support center directly if you would like to discuss this further.
