Having trouble importing GBXML from Sketchup and OpenStudio into other modeling tools. I get a load error in HAP5.11 and no import at all in Trace 700. Attached is the HAP5.11 error

I tried reinstalling all software and exporting to a new model without success. The export appears to "crunch the numbers" but no file is generated. Oddly, I also noticed that the "Space Type Report" fails to create a file. Not sure if this is the issue, but there are "_" appearing before/after the file name in the save as dialog window and no file name extension option is shown :

C:\fakepath\save as window.png

I'm using:

  1. Windows 10
  2. OpenStudioApplication-1.0.0.4f5416cfc7-Windows
  3. SketchUp plugin v1.0.0
  4. SketchUp Pro 2019.3

I tested the GBXML files and here is the output:

As a short term solution for those experiencing this issue, the GBXML data exported from the SketchUp 2019 using OS V1.0.0 plugin can be re-imported into a downgraded version of the SketchUp OS plugin combo. It appeared that the resulting .osm file was intact, so I exported as GBXML again. It imported successfully into HAP.

Downgraded versions used: SketchUp Pro 2018 & OpenStudio 2.8.0 which is available on the OS github site

@nfonner, Thanks for this information. Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, gbXML from an older version of OpenStudio imports into HAP and Trace fine, but gbXML from latest OpenStudio does not? We'll look into that, I'll let you know if w need any test models.

@nfonner could you share test case (privately if need be) please? Ideally the OSM and both the gbxml produced by the 2.8.0 and the one from 3.0.0 would be great to quickly see what's going on. An issue for this was opened on Github OpenStudio#4001, be great if you could hop over there please.

@David - Yes @Julien - Please use this link for both OSM files and both GBXML files.

Also, Do I need to install OS 3.0.0AND OS app 1.0.0 with OS Plugin 1.0.0? I thought the OS app was separate from now on.

the openstudioapplication1.0.0 installer with also ship with its own openstudio (SDK) 3.0.0 version. So you don't need to install both no.

Thanks for the link!
