Hi all,

Im using E+ version 9.3. I used Chiller:Electic:EIR (air condenser) for a project in cooling mode by using TableLookUp object to define its performance ( TableLookUp by using the manufacturer performance curve in place of equations).

I checked the output values with the data provided by manufacturer for each Ambient Temp/ leaving chillled water, I got same values ( so it's working great).

I used HeatPump:PlantLoop:EIR:Cooling for the same project with the same TableLookUp values, I obtained the same load side heat transfer as Chiller:Electic:EIR, but the power consumption is very low?? In addition, I noticed that the air inlet temperature in the source side is equal to ambient DB Temperature ( so that's right) but the air outlet temperature in the source side varying between 2000 and 3000 degree Celsius!! ( that's weird)

Could someone help me out?

Thank you

@sergerwehbe could you include the text of your HeatPump:PlantLoop:EIR:Cooling object so we can see the input field settings? Or, better yet, post a link to your full IDF using Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

Thank you @aaron

For condenser Fluid Flow rate ( air flow rate) = 2.0833 m3/s in place of 0.0020833m3/s

By Fixing it, the air outlet temperature in the source side has fixed too, but still low power consumption!!

I have similar issue. Were you able to resolve this?

After some digging, I agree that you have the controls (performance curves via look up tables, flow rates, capacities, setpoints, etc.) the same between the two cases. What I noticed is that in cooling season, the outlet air temperature from the heat pump is lower than the outlet air temperature from the chiller's condenser, even though they are both providing the same amount of cooling to the load side or evaporator side, respectively. I think this will require looking at the Engineering Reference documentation for each object to understand differences in equations used.

Here is a link to Chiller:Electric:EIR documentation, and here is a link to HeatPump:PlantLoop:EIR:Cooling documentation.
