Getting Acquainted with Kiva in OpenStudio
Hi Everyone,
I'm experimenting with the Kiva foundation object in Openstudio and noticed that simply assigning "foundation" as the outside boundary condition to a slab on grade floor in contact with the ground under the "spaces --> surfaces" tab gives a "no corresponding SURFACEPROPERTY:EXPOSEDFOUNDATIONPERIMETER object defined" error.
I see by looking at the documentation that this is the outer perimeter of the surface in contact with the ground.
Is there a way to specify this parameter in OpenStudio, or is the Kiva Foundation object meant to be used with an energyplus measure / tweaking the e+ file?
At a minimum, you can use an OpenStudio measure instead of an EnergyPlus measure because this object is available in the OS SDK. I don't know if it's available via the OS app though, if that's what you're asking.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I was wondering if the features could be inputted in the OpenStudio App.
As of v1.1.2, the TBD OpenStudio Measure offers 2 options to autogenerate Kiva objects.
Both options are simple checkboxes in the Measure interface. Kiva settings, foundations and exposed perimeters are all explicitly written out in the OSM (for further manual editing). The key here is that TBD accurately estimates the exposed perimeter for each foundation.
Is there anywhere to set the insulation depth, etc. in the App or does this fall under "for further manual editing"?
You ought to request that Kiva inputs be added to the app at https://github.com/openstudiocoalitio.... I don't see that it has been requested yet.
