Hi everyone, When i use search surface tool in sketchup, for example i search for surface 1, I get a lot of surfaces, named surface 1. but in Open studio there is no problem. each surface has its individual correct name. will this be a problem in our simulation??? In fact the name sketch up gives to a surface is different from the name Open studio assign to that surface.

Thank you in advance

It is just a string search for surfaces that contain a string not an exact match. So it is also catching "Surface 105" or any "Surface 1*" surfaces. I can see that if we had leading zeros on surface name it would be easier, that could also be done via a script.

Interesting !!! Thanks for your help. as far as the names are correct in Open Studio i feel safe, Do you think it is necessary to add Zeros via scrip? I mean is it a problem influencing the results of the simulation.

It isn't affecting simulation, just the surface search. The surface search could be updated to have option for exact match, or, probably better a script that re-names surfaces. There is one that renames the surfaces based on parent space, and then orientation, so it is a meaningful name that gives you information about it without a search.

Maybe not totally related, but is it possible to search with an "and" operator? This would be really useful for finding two or more specific surfaces.
