Radiant slab - Design capacity

Hi all,

I´m trying to model the effect of a radiant slab on the comfort conditions inside a space. I´m interested on seeing the impact of a radiant system with a Design capacity of 15 W/m2.

Is there any way to model it without doing all the HVAC loopings?

I´m not really familiar with HVAC modelling and was intending to find something similar to the ideal air loads method. I´ve tried with the ZoneHVAC:LowTemperatureRadiantVariableFlow object, but it requires all the HVAC connections.

I´m probably leaving a lot of factors on the side, but I had assumed it would be enough to define the Design capacity for it to be taken into account.

You will need to use the full object. The radiant system changes surface temperatures, and thus convection in the space, rather than just changing the thermal balance of the mixed air in the zone.

Ok, yes, that makes sense.

I was after getting all the particular effects of the radiant slab in the space, without modelling the complete HVAC looping. So far this doesnt seem possible, since the ZoneHVAC:LowTemperatureRadiantVariableFlow object wouldn´t run without them.

I´m aware that from an HVAC perspective this is a brutal simplification, but I´m only interested in looking at the effect on the space and not necesarily any HVAC performance, consumption nor sizing.
