Active layer in wall

Is it possible to create an active layer inside a wall, like in TRNSYS? In TRNSYS you just specify some parameters like:

  • specific heat coefficient of water
  • pipe spacing (center to center)
  • pipe outside diameter
  • pipe wallthickness
  • pipe wall conductivity

What tool are you using? There is likely a tag that you can add for the tool so that others can give better guidance.

It sounds like you are trying to use EnergyPlus. You will have to create your wall construction and specify the parameters for a Construction:InternalSource. Assign the construction you just created to the wall surfaces as required, and then add a ZoneHVAC:LowTemperatureRadiant:VariableFlow or ZoneHVAC:LowTemperatureRadiant:ConstantFlow to the zone where your building is. You can look at an example set-up in the EnergyPlus example files.

Means I create my wall in "Construction:InternalSource" and add a "ZoneHVAC:LowTemperatureRadiant:ConstantFlow" to the zone and to the surface?

And do you know how I can create an surface list in the IDF Editor? Cause I have a lot of surfaces, where I have to add the LowTemperatureRadiant system. It would take long if I have to create for each surface a new ZoneHVAC:LowTemperatureRadiant:ConstantFlow - system.

You add the ZoneHVAC to the zone. And yes, you actually need to specify a ZoneHVAC:LowTemperatureRadiant:SurfaceGroup to the ZoneHVAC if all the surfaces work in paralell. That item is available on the IDF editor.
