Interior Windows: report variables in Openstudio/EnergyPlus
I would like to know the contribution of the interior windows to the zone energy balance. I have tried with the following report variables:
- Zone Interior Windows Total Transmitted Beam Solar Radiation Rate. Reports 0 values. I thought that solar radiation was always diffuse after an interior window, so, why does this variable exist?
- Zone Interior Windows Total Transmitted Diffuse Solar Radiation Rate This variables is reporting values
- Surface Window Transmitted Beam Solar Radiation Rate.This variable, for the interior windows, is in the results sql file but with zero values.
- Surface Window Transmitted Diffuse Solar Radiation Rate. This variable, for the interior windows, is not included in the results sql file.
- Surface Window Net Heat Transfer Rate, Surface Window Heat Gain Rate, Surface Window Heat Gain Loss are not include in the results sql file for the interior window.
What am I missing? How can I study the contribution of the interior windows to the zone energy balance.

If I´m not mistaken, the first variable would depend on your Solar Distribution model. You´ll need one of the options using Interior and Exterior calculations and your zones not to be convex (More on the E+ Input/Output manual).
Additionally, any beam solar that reaches your interior windows through the outer zone is transferred as diffuse to the inner zone (still, I think that the first variable should report values as long as you have the right solar model and concave zones).
Thanks Rafael. I am using very simple convex zones and the FullInteriorAndExteriorWithReflections model, but the variable "Zone Interior Windows Total Transmitted Beam Solar Radiation Rate" reports 0 values.
I see, and the simulation doesn´t show any warning regarding the Solar calculation I suppose?
Can you share the idf? It´s hard to tell otherwise.
