Hello, I am trying to convert the .inp file of one of the eQuest sample cases to energy plus data file. I used the DOE2Translator and IDF version updater to do this. I have got many syntax errors in the .idf file generated and I am trying to fix each of them by looking at the DOE 2.3 manual and EnergyPlus reference manual. While converting the following lines, I could not relate what the field "C-Sub-Area" means and where its values go into EnergyPlus. I searched the DOE2.3 manual and could not see any such fields for SPACE commands. Can anyone help me with this?

!"EL1 South Perim Spc (G.S1)" = SPACE

! SHAPE = POLYGON

! ZONE-TYPE = CONDITIONED

! PEOPLE-SCHEDULE = "EL1 Bldg Occup Sch"

! LIGHTING-SCHEDUL = ( "EL1 Bldg InsLt Sch" )

! EQUIP-SCHEDULE = ( "EL1 Bldg Misc Sch" )

! INF-SCHEDULE = "ZG1-S1 (VAVS) P-Inf Sch"

! INF-METHOD = AIR-CHANGE

! INF-FLOW/AREA = 0.0248727

! PEOPLE-HG-LAT = 198.215

! PEOPLE-HG-SENS = 248.845

! EQUIP-LATENT = ( 0 )

! EQUIP-SENSIBLE = ( 1 )

! LIGHTING-W/AREA = ( 1 )

! EQUIPMENT-W/AREA = ( 0.573 )

! AREA/PERSON = 81.6247

! POLYGON = "EL1 Space Polygon 1"

! LOCATION = FLOOR-V1

! C-SCHEDULE-TYPE = 0

! C-SUB-AREA = ( 1809.78, 375, 130.43, 104.35, 55.43 )

! C-OCC-TYPE = ( 35, 13, 31, 12, 18 )

! C-SUB-SRC-BTUH = ( 0, 0, 0 )

! C-SUB-SRC-KW = ( 0, 0, 0 )

! C-ACTIVITY-DESC = Office (Open Plan) (42%)

My inclination is tha the C-* elements are a relic from DOE2.2, where the C=Compliance.

These fields were used to help auto-generate Baseline Models in eQuest. On the first Schematic/Detailed Design screen, in the upper right corner there is a drop down to select California Title 24, Savings By Design (T-24), or LEED-NC (Appendix G). All three of these prgrams have undergone major changes and IDK if those features are used by many/any folks any more.

Long story short- They can probably be removed.

They serve no purpose for the simuation indeed, but are terribly useful when you model using eQuest since you can use expressions to set a value based on the C-ACTIVITY-DESC for eg (eg if Corridor, set LPD to X, if Apartment set it Y).

as someone who uses switch statements extensively in eQuest models I'm slightly embarrassed that I forgot about that....(even if they dont serve a purpose in this case)
