how to create window on interior wall?

i am using SketchUp and Euclid to draw building geometry for energyplus simulation. in building model, there is two thermal zones with one common surface which was matched using the surface matching object to create an interior wall. but the problem was creating when i draw a window on this interior wall. because i have to draw a window on both sides of the interior wall and it behaves like two separate windows. but i want to create a single window on the interior wall. please suggest me the way out to reach my goal. thanks in advance for your cooperation.

There are two options for creating interior walls and windows in Euclid depending upon how you want to define the outside boundary conditions.

  1. If you set the Outside Boundary Condition input field for the interior wall surface of a zone to Zone, then you only need to draw that one interior wall surface because EnergyPlus will automatically create the required wall surface in the adjacent zone. If you have the second wall surface in the adjacent zone, you will need to delete it from the model. In this case, you will also only need to draw one interior window surface in the interior wall because EnergyPlus will also automatically create the required window surface in the adjacent zone.

  2. If you set the interior wall's Outside Boundary Condition input field to Surface, then you will need to draw the second wall surface in the adjacent zone yourself. After doing so, you will then need to set the names of the adjacent wall surfaces accordingly in the Outside Boundary Condition Object input field (this can be done automatically in Euclid using the Surface Matching tool). After the two interior walls are defined, you will also need to draw the second window surface in the adjacent zone yourself. The Outside Boundary Condition Object input field for the FenestrationSurface:Detailed object that Euclid creates for window surfaces should be set to the names of the adjacent window surfaces accordingly. This can also be done automatically in Euclid using the Surface Matching tool.

In the second process, even though you are drawing two wall or window surfaces (one in each zone), EnergyPlus performs heat transfer and storage calculations for a single surface.

@Aron Boranian, i have implemented option one. but the problem is that the interior window connected zone shows zone windows total transmitted solar radiation is zero. actually i have created a separate zone (second zone) for a double skin facade and this zone thickness is too low (70mm). so total transmitted solar radiation to zone one "Zero" is not acceptable. please suggest me the possible solution to fix this problem.

@muinmodeling double-skin facades should be possible in EnergyPlus, although that section focuses on daylighting illuminance. Which output variable are you using for transmitted solar radiation?

If you're sure that you've implemented option 1 correctly, then try option 2. If neither still work, then we will need to review your IDF's inputs.

@Aron Boranian, actually i want to do daylighting as well as AFN of facade cavity simulation using this model. in response to your reply, i would like to inform you that 1. i use "Zone Windows Total Transmitted Solar Radiation Energy" output variable to identify whether these interior windows passing solar radiation or not. 2. i have also implemented option 2 and unfortunately, it also shows the same result. please suggest me the possible solutions.
