Hi! I've been using the "Create DOE Prototype Building" measure (https://bcl.nrel.gov/node/83591) to create my prototype buildings, namely Secondary School with ASHRAE 90.1-2013 in Houston. I can create the prototype, run it, export it to IDF, all good. But when I've exited OpenStudio and I try to open the file later, I get an error message from the OpenStudioApp: "Failed to open file at C:/Users......../SecSchool_Houston_Base.osm." What is going on? How do I create files that I can open later? I'm using OpenStudio 2.7.0, by the way. Thanks!

What versions are the models? (open them in a text editor to see). My guess is the models you made are a newer version (v.2.7.1 or newer), and the default openstudio app on your computer is linked to v.2.7.0 instead of the newer version of the app.

I opened up the OSM file in Notepad, and the first few lines say it's version 2.7.0: OS:Version, {4ac5d83f-221b-487a-8799-4730f25c2c0d}, !- Handle 2.7.0; !- Version Identifier

I was really hoping your explanation was the case, but it looks like not.

do you get any other associated error message?

I haven't seen any other error messages. I can run simulations on these *.osm files just fine after I create them, and even export to IDF, which runs fine in E+. I just cannot open the *.osm file again once I've closed it.

I don't get an error when I create this building, save it, then try to open it. Using v2.8.1. Did you make any changes to the model outside the OpenStudio App? If not, can you just recreate the model and try to open it again?
