VAV: Fan powered box or no fan duct

The fan powered box has advantage to reduce reheat energy but added more fan energy, especially series fan powered box. From simulation, I often see negative effect using fan powered box compared to single ducted box with reheat.

I wonder if anyone has different results/opinion on this. I really dont see the real advantage of fan powered box.

I typically see fan-powered boxes serving perimeter zones to augment higher heating/cooling loads. Using a series terminal unit allows you to reduce the amount of static on your central AHU (0.2" w.g. instead of 0.5" w.g.).
