Invisible surfaces after Matching Surfaces, OS 2.7.0

Hello to all,

I have been working on modeling an public building with lots of stories and many thermal zones. After updating my OpenStudion software to 2.7.0, every time I use both project loose geometry and surface matching my model lose its walls, floors and ceeling. All I can see are the edges of the spaces.

I've tried to keep a backup file of OS on both my desktop and documents tab, but everytime I use project loose geometry and surface matching, all files in the folder lose walls, floors, even the older ones...

Does anyone have experienced the same problem?

In addition, I started modeling on sketchup with OS 2.7.0 plugin installed and everytime I open the model it says that the model is being updated from 2.6.2 to 2.7.0.

As a guess I would say that it is a visualization problem from SketchUp, because the spaces still exist and I can open it in OpenStudio to keep woorking on it but before moving on I still need to match all surfaces, check if they are green (internal walls) and blue (outdoor walls), and rename the spaces.

Please, feel free to suggest anything or give any pice of advice.

Hello,

Sorry for the late answer.

I haven't tried to use that too much. I restarted the model from the beggining and haven't faced that problem again.

Hope you have solved yours already.

I am having the same issue. I have learned to go to OS to Intersect and Match Surfaces, but then when returning to SU to project loose geometry I am getting the wireframe issue. The model loses all surfaces and is unusable. I don't believe there is a way to project loose geometry directly in OS so I'm at a loss for how to move forward other than manually drawing every window and door. Any suggestions?

When you open a 2.6.2 OpenStudio model in 2.7.0, it updates to 2.7.0, but that update is just in memory. If you then save the model (or SaveAs if you want to be safe) and re-open it, the model should now be a 2.7.0 model, and will not have to update.

Regarding the surface matching, think of the wireframe in the SketchUp plugin as a kind of progress bar. When it gets stuck in wireframe, something went wrong with the current process it is working on. If you open the Ruby console in SketchUp it may provide details. Specifically for intersecting surfaces, please try and use the Surface Matching measure with argument to intersect surfaces described in this post. The measure should be run in the OpenStudio Application using the apply measures now feature, saved, then you can re-open it in the SketchUp Plugin.

Thanks for your answer.

Just checked your solution and it worked.

Thanks you so much, David Goldwasser and Anchapin.

@Irebello How long did it takes for the measure to work? Just curious. I have similar building (+3-4 more floors) and the measure is still "running" in O.S. for more than 30 min.

Hello @yungahhh,

It took about 1-2 minutes. Not much at all. And I have a pretty big model with 6 floors.

I hope you get it to work before my answer.
