Hello, I am using BCVTB to couple MATLAB and energyPlus. I use auto size for HVAC capacity and specified all schedules (Internal heat gains and cooling set points) for a Summer Design day. The run period is for a week long including the summer design day. When I run the idf file from energyPlus, HVAC is able to meet the setpoints for all days. But when I use externalinterface object with ptolemy server (BCVTB) and couple with MATLAB, the HVAC is not able to meet the setpoints. I figured out that the sizing calculations for the design day are not being simulated in the second case. Can someone explain or direct me on how to include the design day sizing simulations using the BCVTB for energyplus. Thanks in advance

I also realized that when I select Yes for both "Run simulation for sizing periods" and "Run simulation for weather file run periods" and included the design day (6/18) in the run period (6/15 to 6/23), the environment temperatures for the day (6/18) is different in the results for sizing period and run period. It looks strange for me.

There is no data exchange between the BCVTB and EnergyPlus during the sizing and the warm up period, which explains your results. See section 5.3 in https://simulationresearch.lbl.gov/bc...
