Why shading system reduces heating energy demand if it's only available during summer?

I implemented windows shading systems in my building energy model. The simulation results show a reduction of the cooling energy consumption but also a reduction of the heating energy consumption. I don't understand why this happens since the shading system is available only during the cooling season.

Does anyone know why this happens?

@Cristina could you post a link to your model?

Make sure that the unshaded window construction matches the base model. Take the input file with shading and set the shade controls to be off at all times. This should produce results identical to the unshaded model. If not, review the shading control inputs.
