I am trying to create a supermarket. When I open a new file in the Sketchup plug-in, I create it as a supermarket. However, when I went to assign attributes to spaces, all I was able to access were Office related space types. I did save and reopen the file once during the process. Does that matter?

First try clicking the "New OpenStudio Model from Wizard" (I recall there may be an issue with that on the mac).

You can also use the wizard as a user script under the "On Demand Template Generators" heading to add space types to your current model. This should work on mac or windows. See the image below.
