How to integrate a Thermal Energy Storage in DesignBuilder?
I want to integrate a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) to a Primary/secondary water cooled chiller system. Is this possible to be done through DesignBuilder version 5?
I usully adopt two solution for this: the first fast and which can run in DesignBuilder and the second more appropriate but need manual modification in EnergyPlus IDF. The first consist in represent your TES with a FluidToFluid Heat Exchanger with assigned Loop volume (autosize loop volume + equivalent TES volume). The second follow the first but improve with a substitution in EnergyPlus of the HeatExchanger:FluidToFluid with a ThermalStorage:ChilledWater:Mixed (the equivalent in cooling of the WaterHeater:Mixed "hot water buffer"); review object class connections names to the new allocation.
