hi iam studying the impact of insulation material (XPS) on building exterior wall in turkey by using design builder, but the results was a bit confusing, i have noticed a great decrease in heating load while the cooling load is increased a bit,, is it logical ??,, i feel like there is something wrong,,, i need help please !

for non insulated wall the heating and cooling load is 13221.09 kwh and 34903.88 kwh receptively for insulated wall with 4 cm extruded polystrene (XPS) the heating and cooling load is 10074.89 kwh and 35304.96 kwh repectively

It might be if you have solar gain through windows especially with high thermal mass and Internal loads.

thanks for the quick reply ,, i really appreciate that ,,,, based on what you said i tried to decrease the building internal loads, like process and machine gain ,lighting gains ,, but it still the same !!! same problem happens with glazing ,, i changed the building window glaze from double 4 mm to double 6mm ,, the results showed a decrease in cooling load while there was an increase in heating load.. while i expected both to be decreased.. any other suggestions please ?

@renas Could you post a link to your model (with weather file)? IDF file please

One other thing might be infiltration and ventilation
