I would like that my sun shade be Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) system. Would you please let me know how I can simulate BIPV on my sun shade in DesignBuider?

Design Builder export BIPV surfaces into IDF of Energy Plus leaving blank the Transmittance Schedule (=always opaque). So if you want to assing a transparency to your GLAZED BIPV you can edit IDF and assign a Fraction Schedule of transparency in lieu of leave blank (=always opaque). In IDF you have to go in "Shading:Building:Detailed" search the names of your BIPV surfaces and assign them your fraction schedule transparency (made it first in "Schedule:Compact") into the blank line (Transmittance Schedule Name) under each name of your GLAZED BIPV surfaces.

Construct your PV panels using the tool marked with yellow. After that double click on the PV panes and enter its efficiency.

At building level go to “Generation” tab and select an inverter. In the “Generator List” select the number of generators (the number of PV surfaces that you draw in the model).

Also have a look in the DesignBuilder help link text
