I am using Openstudio version 2.3 and Energyplus version 8.8 which is the latest version. For the next step of my project, I am trying to using BCTVB to couple energyplus IDF file with matlab m file.
But I realized that I have to use Energyplus ver 8.5 to use the bcvtb ver 1.6 stably. Can I export an EnergyPlus 8.5 IDF file from OpenStudio 2.3?

Just because the release notes of BTCVB version 1.6 here say that it has been tested on 8.5 and that the example files are from 8.5 doesn't mean you cannot use version 8.8.
But upon further digging, I think you can use 8.6, but not 8.7 and 8.8. According to a message dated October 11 from @Thierry Nouidui on btcvb google group, there was a change in 8.7 in the way ERL variables are treated that appears to make it non compatible with BCVTB.
thanks :) I exported idf file version 8.5, but there were many lost things. Therefore, I just revised my idf file manually by my self to change the version 8.8 into version 8.5.
