OpenStudio Application runs very slow

Hello, I am using the latest OS version and my model has about 230 zones. I find that the application runs very slowly - i.e. always lags after every operation, and is especially slow when loading spaces or surfaces in grid view. It is pretty much impossible to select and change things in grid view and I have been relying on measures instead, but even those occasionally crash (program does not respond).

Is this normal for a model this size or do I need a new machine? Thanks, Phan

Yes, the OpenStudio application in general, and in specifically grid view for spaces, surfaces, and sub-surfaces can be very slow on large models, which your's would qualify as. Using measures for changes on large models is a good approach. If you are having issues with specific measures, please let us know what the measure is, what version of OpenStudio you are using, and how you are running the measure (Apply Measures Now, in run workflow of OpenStudio Application, through PAT, or via command line).

I'm running into this issue on a much smaller model: 17 zones. Running OpenStudio 1.7.0+b070178884 on a 13th gen i7. Change one construction in Constructions > Construction Sets (on the default construction set for the model that's applied to all 17 zones as this is a relatively simple model of a single building so there is only one construction set in use) and the computer lags for approximately 1-2 hours. Sometimes more. I tried it on an older Ryzen 1800X and it would lag several hours more on each step, so it's somewhat CPU related but also not specific to this one machine.

Any tips to avoid this?
