I am running into a couple of issues with the new PAT and looking for a solution. Currently using a v2.2 with instructions to model via PAT from https://github.com/NREL/OpenStudio/re...

First off, the simulations take really long to run- I am running locally but the parent file runs 5 mins but the run time on the parametrics as per the window is 8 mins. However the window doesnt get done with the analysis even after half an hour! My assumption from previous PAT is that 7 simultaneous runs can happen at a time and this should only take 5 mins at the maximum since I only have 3 simulation running !

2-obtaining the results as a incremental from baseline. The window keeps saying that open studio results have not been applied to the specific measures- which is not the case. I applied this and as the measure description goes, this has a basis from SEED model and should apply to eventual parms.

3- visibility of the generated output reports. It seems like the eplus.tbl(which used to sit in the Energy plus folder for each data point) is now inside a zip folder. This makes it impossible to auto link the results from worksheets!

4- Download OSM file- the download seems to happen but the file is nowhere to be found! please help!

5- As an additional question and i think this might be available somewhere... is the result of the simulation in an excel format for all the runs! Is this sitting in any of the run files?

I'm doubtful this is the right format for a question as there seems to be 5 in 1, but here goes some answers anyways:

  1. You might be experiencing a bug in this case. (for eg I reported one case where E+ was actually running over and over again here)

  2. There doesn't appear to be the concept of an "Always Run" measure like it did before if you for example included the OpenStudio Results measure to the seed model. You need to specifically add the OpenStudio Results Measure to your PAT analysis, and with a measure option. Then on the Design Alternatives tab you pick your measure option for all runs.

    Config tab:

    OS Results with Option

    Design Alternative tab:

    Design Alternative Tab

  3. Once your runs are done, you can actually look inside your pat project folder in localResults/{uuid}/and you will find eplustbl.html, openstudio_results_report.html and other files such as out.osw, in.osmand the datapoint.zip etc).

  4. The Download OSM I believe is for a run on the cloud, when you click the button it's going to download it to your hard drive (in localResults probably). In your case, the OSM is already there, inlocalResults/{uuid}/.

  5. One way would be to write a custom PAT report similar to the Summary Table with an export to CSV or Excel.

(If you have a need to create a custom PAT report, this is a service I can provide (look at my profile))

Julien, Thank you for the help with this. I do have a couple of comments on your answers 2- I did this already but i still have an issue with getting the results tab to populate 3- I know this but i have my spreadsheets already setup for reporting to extract information from a eplus table. The extraction cannot be done through a zip folder. 5- I have managed to use this software without having to write measures(thanks to all the contributors) and would like to see a solution based on available resources before attempting that!

  1. You're probably having a bug, see if you have the localResults, and open the developer console to see any error message. 3. LocalResults has the eplustbl.html definitely not zipped, if you cannot find it, it's probably a bug (cf 2.).
