Hello everyone,

I am planning to simulate a greenhouse using energyplus. May I know which algorithm is the best to use in E+ for solar radiation and heat transfer through transparent/semitransparent surfaces as well as heat transfer in soil? CFD or CTF?

Thank you

Heat transfer through transparent surfaces in EnergyPlus is calculated using a steady-state heat balance across each pane in the construction. Your choice of Conduction Finite Difference (CFD) or Conduction Transfer Functions (CTF) will not impact the transparent surfaces.

For the ground below the greenhouse, I'd recommend using the Foundation boundary condition with a slab and footing that have the same materials as the soil. This boundary condition will calculate the multi-dimensional heat transfer through the ground using a finite difference calculation.

Thank you very much , I really appreciate your help. Regarding the ground that is exactly what I am planning to do. Thank you for all the contributions in creating Kiva and the other products. You are making the world a better place.
