IWEC is still available by the DOE and EnergyPlus website for energy simulation while IWEC2 are sold by ASHARE.

Are they both reliable to be used for building energy simulation? if not Do we need to repeat all building energy simulations with the new sets of data (IWEC 2) to achieve better results?

IWEC2 provides newer data and more locations. IWEC were completed in 2001 and IWEC2 were completed in 2011. For a residential case study the difference in energy consumption is increased by 1.3% when IWEC2 was used.
