So are you trying to model a zone, presumably with a large deadband between heating and cooling setpoints and just report out how many days the temperature stayed within those temperatures without any conditioning?

You could just report out "Zone Air Sensible Cooling Energy" and "Zone Air Sensible HeatingEnergy" with a "Daily" timestep. Any non-zero days for either variable would represent a day that was not "free-running" for the entire day.
