Can't open previously saved SketchUp or OpenStudio files

The whole drawing was done inside an OpenStudio zone and I saved it both as a SketchUp file and as an OpenStudio file. When I try to open the saved SketchUp drawing I get an error message saying: Removing previously linked OpenStudio content. Open OpenStudio model at " to restore content. When opening the OpenStudio file it says: Failed to load file at C:/Users/USER/Desktop/Modelo de simulação/Casa TCC.osm.

Can you provide some additional details. Version of OpenStudio, SketchUp version, and operating system.

What happens if you move copy of file to the top level of the C drive and open it. Wondering if special characters in path are issue.

Also, just to learn more about your model, is it a one zone model, or did you put the geometry for many zones into a single zone?

Lastly, try the diagnostic script under the "Extensions/OpenStudio User Scripts/ Reports" menu.

Have you tried opening your file from the open studio plugin? in practice I would never save the sketchup file as this often hurts your openstudio file. Just something for the future.

I think this usually happens when you either try to save the sketchup file using the Sketchup dialog instead of the Openstudio save model option, or when you try to open the .osm file using the Sketchup dialog's open command.

Since you say you have saved the .osm version of the file as well, try launching the sketchup application from scratch (from the Start menu or wherever your SketchUp app resides), and using the OpenOpenstudiomodel in the OpenStudio toolbar to open the .osm version of your file.

The ability to save a model in native Sketchup format without the link to the OpenStudio application is an important functionality that I hope the programmers can address. This would allow one to do, for example architectural rendering of the model without having to duplicate the effort of building the model.

I had the same question and found this best answer from somebody else in this forum; I copy-paste it here: (in case anybody else with the same question comes here) The SketchUp file (.skp) is not used in any way by OpenStudio. You should not use SketchUp's File/save or load options. All saves and loads should use the OpenStudio toolbar save and load buttons. The .osm file is the only thing that matters.
