In E+ when we need to calculate light penetrating from one zone to another we use Full Interior and Exterior setting. According to the guide, in this case zones must be fully enclosed by boundary surfaces and be convex. The question is - if we need to calculate the effect only in certain zones, how to apply this setting to them only?

Solar Distribution is a global option. It applies to all zones in the model.

Option two is to set OpenStudio to use Radiance for the daylight calculation. By doing this, you can look at daylight distribution across zones, and even across concave floor plans. The catch is that this will only provide the dayLIGHT results; the thermal effects are still bound by the EnergyPlus calculation.
