I'm searching a way to maintain the solar radiation (direct and diffuse) constant over more than a day in EnergyPlus. I'm opening again a discussion that exist already (Maintain the daylight more than 24h?).

  • To maintain the intensity, it only needs to manipulate the weather data. But there are troubles with the daylight. When the night comes, all the radiations are forced to be at zero.
  • To maintain the duration, as it can be seen in the previous discussion, the building can be located in the North Pole. It works to maintain the daylight constant but not the direct radiation. Indeed, the Direct Radiation depend on the cardinal direction, in this location the sun is turning around the building. As the building is not circular (but rectangular), the amount of radiation received in the building is not constant.

I'm wondering if someone know a solution to implement this kind of experiment.

I don't think it is possible and would require source code change, as for a new feature. Requests for this have come up from time to time -- mostly for laboratory test chamber applications -- but it has not been a priority for funding. You might add this to the user voice feedback site.
