Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what is the best way to model shading devices in openstudio? The only tutorial that I could find is this link: http://nrel.github.io/OpenStudio-user... But the method it presents does not give me many options such as setting the size and type of the shading, assigning shading to a specific window, etc. Are there other ways that I can define shading devices such as louvers or blinds in openstuido? Also, is there any way that I can see the added shading in the sketchup model? and I need all that for lighting analysis.

Thanks

The options you get in the SketchUp plugin (blind, shade, daylight redirection device, switchable glazing) are all that are supported by the Radiance Measure. The intent is to allow you to place something on the windows, for a modicum of glare control. Unfortunately you cannot define the specifics of the shading devices (e.g. the size/spacing of blind slats, or the openness of a shadecloth). The switchable glazing device gives you some flexibility, in that you can define the two constructions the device will use, at least.
