Modelling window films in Openstudio

Hi, I have a model where the desired outcome is to show the effectiveness of a window film on the thermal solar gains in a building, however I cannot quite figure out how to make a construction set which can be modelled. Is there a way to do this? I want to madel the performance of the glass (reflectance, emissivity, transmittance etc) and then place behind it a film layer with its own individual properties for emissivity, reflection and transmission of light and heat. I have been considering exporting the window construction as an .idf file out of WINDOW7.2, but am unsure if I would be able to properly import it into the Openstudio model. Any suggestions would be warmly welcomed, cheers

The fastest way to do this is to create a separate window construction in OpenStudio that includes the film, and then use the Building Component Library Measure to swap out the window with the new window construction.

In OpenStudio:

1) Under Constructions tab -> Materials tab -> Glazing Window Materials, add glazing window materials to build the exterior window. You'll need to copy the parameter values from WINDOW7.2.

2) Under Constructions tab -> Constructions tab, create a new "ExteriorWindow" construction in your model built from "Glazing Window Materials" that you specified (from "My Model" at right). See the OpenStudio support docs for screenshots on how to do this.

3) Under Measures tab, access the Building Component Library ("Find Measures on BCL"), navigate to Envelope -> Fenestration section, and download the measure: "Replace Exterior Window Constructions with a Different Construction from the Model"

4) Drag and drop the measure under OpenStudio measures, and select the new construction you made to replace the existing window constructions. If you just want to apply it to only a subset of the existing windows, you'll need to modify the measure to do that. Let me know if that's the case, and I can share the draft measure I have.

That's a much more clever way of doing it than I'd thought of! However my problem comes in at step 1; when modelling windows with a film Openstudio won't let me model a window with film on it- the parameters state that the window can only have either an exterior shade, another glass layer or an interior blind. None of these are quite what I want to do (as I want to model the glass and the film separately I can't just change the paramter values to act as though the glass and flm are one layer) The closest I've gotten is modelling the film as a glass layer that is 68 microns thick
