I am modeling a small hotel in Nepal. Of course, hotel rooms are not occupied the whole year around but depending on the season. In high or holiday season ocupancy rate goes up to 90% while in low season only 10% of the rooms are occupied. I was wondering how I can represent this yearly variations in OS schedule set. I have data about monthly occupancy rate for the hotel.

@Amir Roth, please, don't delete this question. I know it derived from a previous one. I took it out as it is a different topic and I think it could be interesting for everyone learning about schedule class. Thanks.

You can model this using a "Number of People" schedule, and add a different priority schedule for each month. This would allow you to control occupancy on a monthly basis.

The trouble I see with this, however, is that in doing this you would essentially be telling the program that the building is 90%, or 10%, full for the entire month, which is not exactly what you want, because although you might have those levels of occupancy on average, you wouldn't be able to capture the daily in & out patterns of people within each zone.

Maybe you want to develop a daily or weekly schedule of what your occupancy is, and then pro-rate those values based on the expected occupancy for that month.

Here is documentation on ruleset schedules. You can also look at school template for example of seasonal changes.

@David Goldwasser Thanks a lot for the hint. I studied the OS school template. I think it might be suitable for my purpose. Is it right that I have to redefine all schedules (for lights, people, heating and cooling set point) according to the occupancy rate of the hotel. Or can I set one building operation schedule or something similiar?
