Hi Folks,

I am trying to model a prison project which includes a combination of radiant slab for heating and VAV units. I searched around the forums and it seems that the best way to model would be to use VAV as the system type, add additional hot water heating as the baseboard and lower the space temperature.

Is this the best approach? Could someone please let me know if you are aware of any alternative approach?

Thanks

I might append to this approach to consider adjusting boosting thermal mass in the associated space(s), and also inputs for baseboard dT, pressure drop, and baseboard loop operation to more accurately reflect the operation of the radiant slab system. Note as well you could set up an expression to calculate capacity based on the local SPACE AREA, which could save a lot of user error potential (and time)!

Thanks Nick.

Regarding your comment for setting up the expression based on the local SPACE AREA, I was not aware of that but found something in another forum.

Did you mean to include this expression - #LR("SPACE","AREA")*-30 $ for setting up the 30 BTUH per square foot in each zone?

Thank you.
