Modelling a Low Temperature Radiant Floor

Hello everyone,

I have been encountering a problem lately when I try to model a radiant floor in OpenStudio.

I am currently using the OpenStudio 1.10.0 plugin for SketchUp.

My building is a residential building with 6 stories plus 2 parking lots underground. After setting all thermal zones and space types, I use a HVAC system template found in BCL(by apply measure). The HVAC template I used named AEDG Office HVAC radiant DOAS.

When I run the simulation, sometimes it shows errors, sometime it doesn't. It seems very random. Does anyone know how to fix it? Errors:

Process exited with a non-zero exit code of: 1 Error report file indicates that the process did not complete successfully GetSurfaceData: There are 24 degenerate surfaces; Degenerate surfaces are those with number of sides Weather Simulation requested, but no weather file attached. GetNextEnvironment: Errors found in getting a new environment Error condition occurred. Previous Severe Errors cause termination.

Thanks for any help.

hard to believe that your errors are random. The error message you've posted suggests two specific itesm worth checking 1. Have you defined the weather file ? 2. The message about degenerate surfaces seems incomplete. What does the full error message say ? Have you created any surfaces in an unusual way? i.e manually edited vertices?

Hi, I do define the weather file. And Sometimes, when it can simulate and generate the report, it still has an error for degenerate surface. Therefore, I dont think degenerate surface would affect the simulation. It is so weird.

It's worth running the diagnostic script to remove the degenerate surfaces, just to confirm they are not the issue.
